Security forces launched Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Pulwama after some firing shots were heard near a police naka at Gangoo on circular road on Thursday, official sources said.

No one was injured in the firing, they said, adding that security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched CASO.

This was the second attack in Pulwama district since Wednesday night when militants fired Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL) grenade towards police station at Lassipora. No one was injured as the grenade missed the intended target and exploded at a distance of police station.

The Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit claimed responsibility for the attack.
