Facing a must win situation to stay in hunt for a play-off berth, Royal Challengers Bengalore (RCB) piled up 218 for six against Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH), as AB de Villiers carried the home team with a blistering 39-ball 69.

Batting first RCB got off to a slow start with off colour Parthiv Patel dismissed in the first over. But skipper Virat Kohli showed early promise adding 32 runs in 3.5 overs with AB de Villiers. But he left soon clean bowled by impressive Afghanistan leg spinner Rashid Khan, who emerged as the most successful bowler for Hyderabad with a haul of 3 for 27.

RCB then launched a counter attack with indomitable de Villiers taking his usual self of shoring up the home team's batting hitting 12 fours and a six in his 39 ball essay. He found an able ally in Englishman Moeen Ali who revealed with his all-round prowess hitting what looked a match winning 65 off just 34 balls.

Moeen, overshadowed de Villiers in the middle overs as he dominated the third wicket adding 107 in just 49 balls in the company of the proteas (represents South Africa in international cricket) to take the home team to a comfortable position. The England all rounder hit two fours and four sixes was the only batsman to punish Rashid Khan severely as he hit the leg spinner for two sixes in the 7th over.

RCB raised 100 for loss of two wickets in the 12th over and looked comfortable for a tall score. But the home team lost the two top scorers in the 15th over when Rashid struck telling blows. He removed de Villiers caught in the deep through a brilliant catch by Shikhar Dhawan (3-145) and two balls later scalped Moeen caught in the deep by Goswamy and RCB were down 149 for 4 in the 15th over.

But the local side found a brilliant hitter in Harare born Colin de Grandhome who struck a 17 ball 40 to take the RCB to a commanding total. Grandhomme struck one four and four sixes punishing Sakib Al Hassan and Siddarth Kaul repeatedly in the end overs. Local boy Sarfaraz Khan came out with a camero 22 not out scored off just eight balls to take RCB to a commanding total.

For SRH Rashid Khan emerged as most successful bowler with figures of 4-0-27-3, while India U-19 pacer Siddharth Kaul claimed 2-44.
