An incident of personal clash between youths tried to turn into political strife to infuse communal tension which was spoiled by the timely step of Minister to retain peace and amity here in the bordering subdivision of Kamalpur in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai here today. The incident took place last night when some boys from Kamalpur town area entered into the house of one Suleman Ali of bordering Muslim dominant village of Mohanpur to teach Suleman a good lesson. As the family members of Suleman raised hue and cry and all the villagers were informed through the microphone of local mosque to gather, all the villagers rushed out with weapons to fight the attackers and police also rushed to the spot. Somehow, the situation was took under control and police took Suleman into custody for a case was there against him. From today morning, allegedly, some leftist leaders including defeated Bijoy Lakshmi Sinha visited the village to infuse communal sentiment to prove it an attack of the BJP led Hindus on the Muslims. A portion of women of the village sat on road blockade demanding the release of Suleman and handing over of the attackers to them. They identified the youths to be from the popular family of the town identified as Partha Goswani, Bubai Banik and Kutu Shil. As the tension started to rise, Minister for food, sports and youth affairs Manoj Kanti Deb, BJP Kamalpur mandal president Prashanta SInha, Jitendra Bhattacharjee, BJP minority cell leader advocate Aminul Islam and others rushed to the spot. They discussed the whole matter with the villagers and made it clear that the incident was no propaganda of BJP. Local eminent personalities from Muslim community also agreed on the point that, as they continued to live in peace and amity for years and even after BJP's getting into power, they strongly believed that BJP could never instigate such efforts and all agreed to close the chapter considering it a bad instance. Manoj Deb assured the villagers saying, "BJP never believes in distorting peace and amity and never propagates such works. Our aim is to maintain peace and amity and ensure development for all. Hence I strongly believe that the people of both Hindu and Muslim communities would play their parts accordingly and such incidents or any development of this incident will never take place, It surely is an incident of personal enmity. The state government will stand by you all and it is the very basis of our government".

Ultimately, the matter came to a happy ending. But, at the same time, demands rose that, administration should be strict and people should also be aware before claiming any such incident as a propaganda of any political party. UNI XC AKM
