Goto Ete inducted as Arunachal Information Commissioner

Advocate-turned-Additional District & Sessions Judge (FTC) Goto Ete has been sworn in as Information Commissioner of the Arunachal Pradesh.

He was administered oath of office by Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra in a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 15 (3) of the Right to Information Act, 2005 (No. 22 of 2005) and on the recommendation of the Committee chaired by the Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor Brig (Dr) B D Mishra (Retd) appointed Goto Ete as State Information Commissioner and administered the oath of office to him," said a communique from the Raj Bhavan.

A native of Darka village, Aalo in West Siang district, Goto Ete has graduated from JN College Pasighat in 1983 and completed LLB degree in first class from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 1987.

He has served the state in various capacities like Govt Advocate in the district panel of lawyers in West Siang, East Siang & Upper Subansiri districts (1988-2000), Addl Senior Govt Advocate for the State of AP at the Itanagar Permanent Bench of Gauhati High Court (2000-2001), Senior Govt Advocate (2001-2002), Additional District & Sessions Judge, Fast Track Courts from 2002 to 2013, Ex-Officio Special Judge under Prevention of Corruption Act (2005-2013) and Ex-Officio Member of Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, MACT (2008-2013).

Among others, First Lady of the State, Neelam Misra, Parliamentary Secretary for Sports & Youth Affairs Nyamar Karbak, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, State Chief Information Commissioner Dr Joram Begi and Information Commissioners Abraham K Techi and Matheim Linggi were present on the occasion.
