Union Commerce Secretary A Rita Teaotia, IAS, has said that the Centre is supporting Goa Government to prepare an export strategy.

Addressing a press conference after chairing an open house meet with traders, exporters in the city on Monday, she said,''We are supporting the state government to prepare an export strategy. The work has already started. The export strategy will cover goods, services, the agro-processed products as well as agro-products. It will also look into at issues pertaining to services, logistics and quality. The idea is that the policy will be supported through focused action plan with timelines so that we can hold ourselves accountable to deliver on the export strategy.'' She said in the open house meet, there was some interest in developing agriculture hub for agricultural products as well as processing and there were some issues regarding shipping industry and mines. On a question related to mining in Goa, she said everyone was aware that there was a directive from the Supreme Court and in order to make that work, there was need for strong cooperation between the State Government, Union Ministry of Environment, Mines and Forest.
