'' You give us peace, we will give you prosperity, '' this was the clarion call of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Hill Business Summit today .
Inaugurating a two-day industrial meet in the queen of hills of Darjeeling, Ms Banerjee highlighted the potential of the region in the eco-friendly sectors of IT, tourism, horticulture, agro industries, medicinal plants, food processing and education.
'' It is our proud privilege that we are organising this kind of summit in the Hills for the first time. Darjeeling Hills have a huge potential. Tea, trade, tourism, transport are its mainstay. Horticulture, food processing, skill development and software industry sectors can also be explored, '' she iterated.
Thanking the GTA for all the cooperation, she said, '' This kind of initiative (business summit) will go a long way in job creation. Arrangements have been made for this summit within a month. . Bengal is going ahead. Bengal means business. We are No. 1 in India in ease of doing business, e-reforms, e-governance, skill development, agriculture and other sectors. '''' Darjeeling has lost more than Rs 1000 crore in the strike last year. People ofDarjeeling were the biggest sufferers. Let us make a new beginning. Let us prepare a plan of action. Government will provide all support and cooperation. The young generation has immense potential. The youth of Darjeeling are very skilled, and can be used in any industry, '' she stated.
Two IT Parks are coming up in Kalimpong and Darjeeling, she informed.
