Expressing concern over the recent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress , describing the policy of the NDA government towards Pakistan as being marked by 'U turns', 'flip flops' and 'somersaults', on Tuesday said that instead of talking about terror with Pakistan , it was time for this government to act against terror sponsored by Islamabad.

The Congress also asked the BJP to make its stand clear on the statement by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister favouring talks with Pakistan.

Talking to reporters here, AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said,''the NDA's policy towards Kashmir and one towards Pakistan has been a story of 'U Turns', 'flip flops' and 'somersaults'. A litany of errors has marked this government's approach towards Pakistan.

It is time for this government to quit its ingenuity of talks on terror with Pakistan. The country wants you to take action against terror sponsored by Islamabad and fulfil the promises made to the people before the Lok Sabha elections.''Expressing concern over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, , Mr Tewari said,''our hearts and minds are with the soldiers and the families who have been martyred in the terrorist attacks. We hope that the people injured in the attacks are provided proper care and are able to recover at the earliest.''Asking the BJP to make its stand clear on the statement by Jammu and Kashmir chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who has favoured talks with Pakistan, Mr Tewari said,''at a time when the soldiers are dying in terror attacks, PDP, the ally of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir , has said that talks should be held with Pakistan. We would like to ask the BJP that where do they stand on the statement of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister.''Pointing out that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has deteriorated sharply during the NDA rule, Mr Tewari said,''it is necessary to emphasise that there have been 206 terrorist attacks by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir during the last 44 months. Also, since the coming into power of the BJP at the Centre , there have been 2474 incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the line of control.''More UNI AR ADG 1801
