Jipmer Director Dr S C Parija had participated in the historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing event between India and Sri Lanka on January 15, in Sri Lanka, via video-conferencing. According to a Jipmer release on Tuesday, Minister of Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad signed a MoU with Harin Fernando, Minister of telecommunication and digital infrastructure, Sri Lanka to link National Knowledge Network (NKN) with Lanka Education and Research Network (LEARN). Previously any telemedicine interaction between India and Sri Lanka were routed through High speed Singapore Internet network. The MOU would facilitate direct high speed internet connectivity between the two countries. Dr Parija participated in the event from the Telemedicine centre at JIPMER. The pioneering work of JIPMER to establish Telemedicine collaboration with Sri Lanka was acknowledged in the meeting. Dr Parija said that the MoU being signed between NKN and LEARN would help both the countries to come together on a common platform using Telemedicine for academic and research collaboration.
