University of Engineering and Management in association with Institute of Engineering and Management and in technical collaboration with IEEE convened their annual International Conference on opto-electronics and applied optics, Optronix 2017, in the city on November 2 and 3 . The conference focused on research and development in the area of Opto-electronics and applied optics with particular emphasis on communication engineering and its different kinds.
This was the fourth conference of a series of annual academic conferences of UEM , Kolkata ,exploring how technology could be effectively utilized in our daily lives. Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti , Chancellor, UEM, inaugurated the program amidst much festivity with an auditorium decorated with National and International delegates. This year's Conference included a notable lineup of keynotes including Dr. Francesco Amato from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA,Prof. Dr. Mathew Davis from Swansea University, UK,Prof Dr. Nowshad Amin from the Universiti Kebangsaan, Malaysia , Prof Dr. Anamitra Makur from Nanyang Technical University, Singapore ,Prof. (Dr.) Biswajit Ghosh from the Dept. of Energy Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata,Prof. (Dr.) Abhirup Das Barman from the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta, Prof. (Dr.) Sasthi Charan Ghosh from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. Dr. Nowshad Amin discussed about solar photovoltaic on solar cell techniques and also Nano technology for water purification or other environmental pollutions while Prof. Dr. Mathew Davies spoke on understanding photochemistry and physical chemistry of materials. Dr. Amato presented his keynote on Long Range Low powered RFIDs which will allow to develop ubiquitous low powered backscattering sensors to monitor in real-time environmental data. The primary purpose of this conference was to raise awareness about the domain among established and budding scientists and researchers in India and abroad, encourage the involvement of students and faculty in study, research and development in this field, and also to raise public knowledge and move swiftly and effectively towards a knowledge-centric society.UNI BM AND
