General Manager of the Eastern Railways Harindra Rao today visited the Dumka Railway Station here and inquired into the passenger amenities and also inspected the facilities being provided to the passengers at the railway station.
Post the inspection, he also issued necessary direction to the officials. Later, a delegation of the BJP led by its working committee member Garib Das handed over a memorandum to the GM urging to expand railway services from Dumka. The BJP demanded that train no 13319/13320 BaidynathDhan-Ranchi Intercity be extended to Dumka while train no 12367/12368 Bhaglapur Ranchi Vikramshila Express and Rampurhaat-Howrah express be run from Dumka. Later talking to the reporters, the BJP leader said it was under the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee the rail project for Dumka was started but due to the negligence of the railway board it took 15 years to ensure train movement from Dumka. He said, people of Dumka stii today do not have a direct train service to Patna or Kolkata.UNI XC-AK AKM
