Survey of Dolphins would be conducted in Ganga river every year: Modi

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today said the survey would be conducted every year in Ganga river from Chausa to Sahebganj to assess the condition and also ensure the protection of Dolphins. Mr Modi while addressing a function organised on national Dolphin day here, said the state government was committed to take all possible steps to ensure protection of Dolphins in Ganga river in Bihar. A survey would be conducted in Ganga river from Chausa in Bihar to Sahebganj in Jharkhand, he said adding that it would help in assessing the condition of Dolphins and also about steps required to be taken for their protection. " We would also create awareness among the people to make them sensitive for protection of Dolphins in Ganga river," Mr Modi said adding that awareness in people would help considerably the steps being taken by state government to protect Dolphins. Mr Modi said the state government had already given its nod for setting up National Dolphin Research Institute under Patna University. Funds had also been provided for the purpose, he informed.UNI KKS BM
