Doctors at the Rajiv Gandhi GovernmentGeneral Hospital (RGGGH) staged a protest today, after one of their colleagues was assaulted by some lawyers.

According to sources, over 200 doctors, including house surgeons, staged a sit-in protest inside the hospital campus to register their concern.

Police said, a lawyer with injuries came to the hospital for treatment in the wee hours of today.

The duty doctor Prabhu advised the lawyer to get a no objection certificate from the policemen present in the premises as per the rules.

But the lawyer and his immediate assistants refused to listen.

This resulted in ruckus and the lawyers assaulted the doctor, police said.

Hospital Dean Narayana Babu held peace talks with the protesters, who dispersed after two hours.

Flower Bazaar police was conducting further investigation.UNI GV CS1637
