Korea Open Superseries: Sindhu, Sameer in quarters, Kashyap crashes out

Star Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma entered the quarterfinals of the ongoing Korea Open while Parupalli Kashyap bowed out of the tournament here today.

Rio Olympic silver medallist Sindhu got the better of Thailand's Nitchaon Jindapol 22-20 21-17. She will now face Japan's Minatsu Mitani in the quarters. Mitani had defeated Saina Nehwal in the 2012 French Open finals to claim the title.

On the other hand, Sameer defeated Hong Kong's Wong Wing Ki Vincent 21-19 21-13 in the 41-minute long clash. The Indian shuttler will now take on local favourite Son Wan Ho in the quarters.

However, Kashyap went down fighting against Son Wan Ho 16-21 21-17 16-21 in the one-hour and 16-minutes long match.UNI XC-KU SW 1513
