Assam Rifles says NSCN-K attacked troops in Nagaland-Myanmar border

The Assam Rifles has clarified that the NSCN-K was behind the attack on troopers of the Para-military unit at ITC (International Trade Centre) Dan, near Pangsha, under Noklak sub-division under Tuensang district on September 11 last. According to a release by the PRO of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles has maintained that it was a firefight between NSCN (K) cadres and troops of the 15 Assam Rifles at Dan on September 11 last, while it made no mention of the alleged attack on a border post around 0235 hrs. "The firefight lasted for around 10 minutes and was carried out by NSCN (K) cadres from Myanmar side of the Indo-Myanmar border. The underground cadres fled away into Myanmar on being retaliated by the Assam Rifles troops," it added. The release said the attackers used Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), one of which allegedly hit a civilian house and also recovered empty shells of small arms ammunition. It also added that one of the troopers, who were reported injured in the gunfight, was evacuated to Rangapahar Military Hospital near Dimapur and that further combing operations were on in the area.
