Nitish favours uniform power rate of NTPC across country

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said that NTPCshould charge uniform rate for selling power across the country on the patternof Railways charging same rate of fare for its services to the people. Mr Kumar addressing a function organised here, said that allocationof power for Bihar from NTPC was less and state was purchasing it at higherrate. NTPC should charge same rate for power across the country as Railwayshad been charging fare for service to the people, he added. Chief minister said the Bihar government had decided to set upSolar Power Station at Pirpaiti and Kajra where Thermal Power Station was tobe established earlier. A lot of work had been done in energy sector in Bihar and Thermal Power Station was no more required, he maintained. Mr Kumar said during his speech delivered on August 15, 2012 he had promised to improve power situation in Bihar by the year 2015 and it was heartening to note that energy scenario had improved a lot since 2012. By the end of this year, every village of Bihar would be electrified, he stated. Chief minister said that Transmission and Distribution Systemshould be properly maintained to ensure quality of power. Any fault in transmission and distribution system could lead to low voltageor voltage fluctuation, he said, adding that state government had directed the authoritiesconcerned to replace all dilapidated and old electric wire within stipulated time frame.
