Grandmother of deceased forest guard to get life time salary

Himachal Pradesh Cabinet decided to provide amount of equivalent salary to Ms Hirdi Devi, grandmother of deceased forest guard who was killed during his duty at Katanda forest beat under mysterious circumstances.

State Cabinet meeting held here today decided to provide an amount equivalent to salary of forest guard Hoshiar Singh to his grandmother Ms Hirdi Devi, as a special case throughout her life time.

State spokesman confirming the council of minister decision said in a statement that in view of the exceptional circumstances of his death while posted in Katanda forest beat, this decision has been taken.

The Cabinet was presided over by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

Forest guard was only bread earner of his family who died under mysterious circumstances while fighting with the forest mafia however his senior officers were reportedly named in the FIR and diary of forest guard for colluding for green felling in the forest .

The body of the forest guard was found hanging to a tree where he used to give his duty in the Jungle.

State people were seeking CBI probe in the matter as involvement of senior officer of department point out involvement of state functionary in crime.UNI ML SHK 2320
