Man held after forensic report confirms beef

Muslim BJP worker Saleem Ismail Shah (32), who was allegedly beaten up by some cow vigilantes earlier this week under the Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment) Act for possession of beef, has been arrested by Nagpur Rural Police.Police said today that Saleem was beaten up by some persons on July 12 on the suspicion that he was carrying beef and the sample of the meat was sent to a forensic laboratory, which later concluded that the meat he was carrying that day, was beef.Saleem was arrested on Saturday night and produced before Narkhed Magistrate's court in the district yesterday which sent him to one day police custody, police informed.''We will ask for extension of his custody on Monday," police said.A case has been registered against him at the Jalalkheda Police Station, the police added.
