Age old traditional rituals connected with Amarnath yatra to start from July 9

The traditional age old rituals connected with annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas will commence from July 9 with "Bhoomi-Pujan', 'Navgrah Pujan' and 'Dhawajarohan'.

According to Mahant Deependra Giri, Mahant Chhari-Mubarak Swami Amarnath as per age old tradition, rituals namely 'Bhoomi-Pujan', 'Navgrah Pujan' and 'Dhawajarohan' connected with commencement of annualChhari-Mubarak yatra shall be performed at Pahalgam on auspicious occasion of 'Ashad-Purnima' (Vyas-Purnima) on July 9 this year.

He said after performing the Chhari-Pujan at Dashnami Akhara, Srinagar on 'Nag-Panchami', falling on July 27, 2017, Mahant Giri shall carry the Holy Mace of Lord Shiva to Amarnath cave to have 'Darshan' on 'Shravan-Purnima', on August 7.

Meanwhile, in a communication sent to the State Government, Mahant Giri has urged the State Government to make all the necessary arrangements and take the appropriate preventive measures for the safety and security of the Sadhus and pilgrims accompanying Holy Mace.

Mahadev Gir Dashnami Akhara Trust, Srinagar has made all the arrangements like yesteryears for Sadhus coming from across the country for annual pilgrimage for their food and comfortable stay at Akhara Building, Budshah Chowk, Srinagar.

Meanwhile, about 50000 pilgrims had paid obeisance at the cave srhine since the commencement of the 40-day-long pilgrimage which commenced from June 29 from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalagam tracks.UNI BAS ADG 1114
