Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) today demanded that there should be ban on beef across the country.
Addressing a press conference in the city, HJS National Guide Dr Charudutta Pingale said,''There should be beef ban across the country. If you believe in Gandhi Ji's (Mahatma Gandhi) ideology then after independence he had said that there should be beef ban in the country. Supreme Court in its order has said that there should be beef ban. If we are a true citizen and respect law and order then we should accept it.''
When asked why should there be a ban on beef, he said, ''As per Hindu faith cow is not just a mother but it is abode of 33 crore Hindu Gods. Constitution assures us to protect our faith. Our faith should be protected.''
Mr Pingale informed that the sixth All India Hindu Convention to be held in Goa from June 14 to 17 would have a separate session on the protection of cows where in there would be discussion on how to protect cows in the country.
HJS spokesperson Ramesh Shinde said,''Protection of cows has two dimensions. One is their protection and second informing people about their usefulness and importance.''
He said there should be cow sanctuaries in Goa on the lines of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. UNI AKM PY SHK 2207
