Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday condoled the loss of lives in the accident that took place in Chittoor earlier today.

Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter to express grief over the mishap.

"Pained by the loss of lives due to an accident in AP's Chittoor dist. Condolences to families of the deceased & prayers with the injured," he tweeted.

At least 14 people were killed and 15 injured after a heavily laden truck rammed into roadside shops near Yerpedu Police Station in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district.

The driver lost control of the bus and hit an electric pole before ploughing the vehicle into a group of people standing outside the police station.

Andhra Pradesh Cabinet expressed grief over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the kin of the deceased. (ANI)
