International cricket stadium to come up at Rajgir

Rajgir, the famous tourist spot in Biha, will join the select group of cities and towns where international cricket matches are played as the state cabinet today approved a proposal for constructing international cricket stadium in the town.Besides an international cricket stadium, the state sports academy would also be opened at Rajgir in Nalanda district, the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.State government sanctioned Rs 633 crore for the construction of the international cricket stadium and the sports academy at Rajgir in a state cabinet meeting chaired by Mr Kumar.State Cabinet Coordination department Principal Secretary Brajesh Mehrotra said here 90 acres of land had already been identified in Rajgir for construction of international cricket stadium and state sports academy. He said that the process for acquiring land would start soon. He said that a private consultant had also been appointed for preparing master plan for the construction of international cricket stadium and state sports academy. He said that the project is likely to be completed by 2019-20.The Principal Secretary said that the state government was taking all possible steps to promote sports activities in the state. He said that an administrative building and a hostel for trainee sports persons would also be constructed.UNI DH AD1555
