Professor K R Venugopal, Principal,University Visveswaraya College of Engineering here, has beenconferred with 'ACM Distinguished Educator' honour in recognition ofhis outstanding contribution to "Computer Science and Engineering Education".
He is the first Indian at the University-level to be conferredthis special honour, according to an official release here today.
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), World's largestProfessional Organisation in Computing from 70 Countries has named45 Distinguished Members for their individual contributions to thefield of computing this year.
ACM President Vicki L Hanson said that "Our global roster of2016 Distinguished Members reminds us that excellence in our fieldknows no borders. For all our new Distinguished Members, wecelebrate their dedication to computing, their creativity, and theirexemplary professional accomplishments."
Prof Venugopal serving in Bangalore University for the last fourdecades. He has authored and edited 64 books published by SpringerVerlag, Tata McGraw Hill, IEEE Elsevier and published more than 600papers in refereed International Journals and InternationalConferences. He was a visiting Professor at University of SouthernCalifornia in USA.
With his recognition as ACM Distinguished Educator and IEEEFellow, Prof Venugopal is the only academician, who has beenconferred both the prestigeous honours in the country.UNI MSP CNR GM1810
