A two-day International Conference on Climate Change, Water, Agriculture and Food Security (ICCCWAFS 2016) will be held at ICRISAT campus here from November 2.
Mr Nils Ragnar Kamsvag, Ambassador of Norway, the Royal Norwegian Embassy, New Delhi, will deliver his inaugural address at the event, while Mr Jeremy Bird, Director General, IWMI, Colombo, will deliver his key note address on " adapting to climate change-An increasing necessity for a water secure world,"an official release said here today. Besides, a two Panel debate on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security: Technological, Social and Policy innovations for improving smallholder adaptation and on climate proofing agriculture: The role of public-private partnerships and investment, a total of five parallel sessions ( each parallel session consisting of three sessions each) will be held during the prestigious even. Noted professors, agricultural scientists and environmentalists, who represent from nearly seven countries and also across India will discuss about the impact of climate change during the event.
Climate change, impacts and adaptation, sustainable intensification of agriculture systems, water resource management, approaches to address food security and promoting bio-economy- are some of the themes that would be debated at the conference, the release said.
David Bergvinson, director general of ICRISAT, Hyderabad, Nils Vagstad, director general of NIBIO, Norway, Andrew Borrell from University of Queensland, Australia, Avinash Tyagi, secretary general of ICID, New Delhi and WR Reddy, director general of NIRD & PR, Hyderabad will also be the key speakers at the two-day conference. A book on Climate change and Agricultural Development edited by Dr Udaya Sekhar Nagothu ( A 2016 publication from EarthScan/Routledge, London) will be released on the first day besides a CD on New Inventions on water saving and adaptation practices to the changing climate.
