Union Minister for Urban Development and Information and Broadcating M Venkaiah Naidu said that women presence is required in all fields to sustain civilization.
Speaking at the New Indian Express "Devi Awards" function here last night Mr Venkaiah said "With out presence of women, civilization would be much impoverished and imbalanced". "Traditionally there was a fixed notion about what women can do and cannot do. But thankfully notions was now breaking down. Women are succeeding in almost every field, at times outwitting men", he said and added that the NIE 'Devi Awards' recognize women of distinction in different parts of India and this time it focuses on Telangana. Mr Naidu said that the NDA government's flagship programme 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' (Save the girl child, teach the girl child) initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was bringing good results. Recently a women from this city did India proud at International level by referring to P V Sindhu (in Badminton) who had won the Silver medal for India. " Whether it is Sakshi Malik or Deepa Karmakar, only women were in news at Rio Olympics. Deepa Malik brought us Silver medal in Paralympics". Mr Naidu also said the New Indian Express has organized various kinds of programmes ranging from literature to to music and banking to environment.
