CM lays stress on people's participation to ensure success of plantation drive

Chief Minister Raghubar Das today urged the people to extend their support to make the plantation drive a success and also to pass on a greener Jharkhand to the future generations.Addressing a programme here, he said that the state would soon launch a green credit campaign to get carbon credits. He said that trees would be planted in the same ratio in which they would be cut for building roads or other developmental activities.He said that with change in times, the people have also become vigilant as participation gives strength to any movement. He said that the state government has done may work in the area of water conservation in which the media also played its active role. Mr Das also lauded the role of media for highlighting the plight of Harmu River.The Chief Minister said some work should be done for seeking pleasure and satisfaction of inner conscience."Planting of trees is one such act. We should at least plant five trees on the birthday of our children and take care of them," he said adding that trees have their own significance.Mr Das said that in Jharkhand trees have always been worshipped, whether it is Karma or Sarhul, the people worship nature. "Apart from that, trees are related to the economy of the state as people in the villages plant Mango, Guava and Papaya trees to make their living," he said.Mr Das also administered the green pledge to the people present.
