Demanding that Goan culture be conserved by removing 'casinos' and decisions concerning religion related traditions and customs be taken by consulting spiritual guides of Dharma (Dharmacharyas) and Shankaracharyas, Hindu organisaions held a demonstration at Mapusa, around 16 km from here. The speakers expressed their grievances which said the casinos were responsible for encouraging gambling tendencies due to cherishing craving for fast buck effortlessly."This gives rise to prostitution, alcoholism, teasing of women, black money, crimes, creating wrong impressions on young generation, destruction of families and destroying the social fabric,'' they said.Demanding the release of Sadhvi Pradnyasingh and four others held in captivity for several years as suspects in the Malegaon bomb blasts, they said there was also a demand to give severe punishment to those police and leaders giving 'inhuman' treatment by booking Sadhvi Pradnya Singh and many other innocent devout Hindus under various crimes unnecessarily for several years."When the country is suffering from severe problems like 'Love jihad', insecured ladies, suicides by farmers, corruption, unemployment, crimes etc. so called forward ladies are giving priority to issues like climbing the platform at 'Shani' temple in Maharashtra, demanding an entry into sanctums of temples at 'Trambakeshwar', Kolhapur, starting agitation to gain entry into 'Shabarimala' temple in Kerala etc. These agitations commenced by Bhumata Brigade are for political gain and are mere publicity stunts. Historical events connected with revolutionaries sacrificing their lives for the nation should be incorporated in the syllabus of schools so that students are inspired thereby taking these revolutionaries as their models,'' they said.Four organisations Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Sanatan Sanstha, Ranaragini branch, Gomantak Mandir and Dharmik Sanstha Mahasangh, participated in the demonstration.
