Panchaloha idol stolen from temple in TN

A Panchaloha idol of Lord Vinayaka and a silver crown were stolen from a Vinayakar temple at Ganapathy Nagar here, in the wee hours of today.

Police said the dacoity came to light when the priest came to the temple for conducting routine poojas, this morning. Panchaloha idol measuring one-and-half feet in height and weighing fifteen kilograms, the silver crown weighing one and half kilogram and pooja articles kept in the Sanctum Sanctorum were found missing. The robber gained entry into the temple by breaking the lock and decamped with the valuables.

On information, senior police officials alongwith finger print experts visited the temple and held inquiry. A sniffer dog was also pressed into service.
