Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today welcomed a 38-member South Korean tourist-delegation, who are visiting Ayodhya as a part of their religious tour to visit the place of their queen Huh Wang-Ock ancestors.Mr Yadav welcomed the guests personally and assured them of converting the present memorial of the princess at Ayodhya into a world heritage site.Talking to mediapersons, Principal Secretary, Tourism Navneet Saighal said Korean team had made two offers to the UP government."Firstly they want students exchange programme with universities of UP and Korea so that the Korean students can study Indian history and its tradition and culture. The second proposal is to create job opportunities for youths from UP in Korea," he said.Mr Saighal said the Chief Minister had also accepted a proposal by the Korean team to develop the present memorial of princess Huh Wang-Ock, along the banks of the river Saryu in Ayodhya, as a world heritage site. The formal relations between Ayodhya and Korea had started at least 16 years ago when Gimhae Mayor Song Eun-Bok had visited Ayodhya in 2000 and had proposed to develop Ayodhya and the South Korean city of Gimhae (Kimhae) as sister-cities. It did not materialise, but he had inaugurated the queens memorial at that time. Later, an agreement was signed in March 2001 to develop Ayodhya and Gimhae as sister cities. MORE UNI MB AJ SB 1802
