National Cyber Defence Research Centre opened at PES University

National Cyber Defence Research Centre,sanctioned by National Cyber Safety and Security Standards (NCSSS),an autonomous body of Government of India was opened at PESUniversity, a Deemed to be University, here yesterday. Claimed to be first of its kind in Karnataka State, the Centre wasinaugurated by Minister for Higher Education T B Jayachandra to markNational Cyber Safety and Security Standards Summit 2015. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Globalregulatory framework needs to be devised w.r.t Cyber Security andCyber Law. University Chancellor Dr M R Doreswamy explained the significanceof cyber security for secure nation. The younger generation shouldtake responsibility for betterment of mankind. The Center shouldemerge as Centre of National importance in combating cyber crimesand help law enforcement agencies in cyber crime investigations. NCSSS Additional Director Dr S Amar Prasad Reddy gave birds viewof the Summit. He discussed about the need for cyber security andhighlights about day-1 deliberations. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between National CyberDefence Research Centre (monitored and controlled by NCSSS and CloudSecurity Alliance APAC(Asia Pacific) was signed to strengthen theCloud Security in India and also to promote the Cloud Computing InSMEs Sector. Mr B K Patel, Former Judge, Orissa High Court and Member,OdishaJudicial Academy Committee, discussed about virtual world and itsrelationship with cyber world. Karnataka Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) BharatLal Meena said that faculty and students need to be educated incyber crimes, cyber laws and various tools. Awareness campaigns arerequired on technologies and its risk factors. KEONICS Chairman U B Venkatesh stressed that Cyber Safety andSecurity is the need of the hour. On the occasion Mr Dinesh O Bareja (Dubai) Research Head, IndiaWatch & Open Security Alliance, Principal Advisor, Pyramid CyberSecurity & Forensics P Ltd, Dubai, Ex-Cyber Surveillance Advisor -Jharkhand Police and Mr Vivek Ramachandran (Pune) SecurityEvangelist, Researcher, Author & CEO, Binary Security Solutions,Founder and Chief Trainer at SecurityTube.net were awarded as bestachiever in field of cyber forensics and security.UNI MSP VV ADB1726
