Bees attack anti Maoists combing party in Tribal Agency

Eighteen police personnel of an anti-naxal force, including a few from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and District Armed Reserve Force were injured whenr a swarm of bees attacked them while they were conducting combing operations in Balapam Panchayat along the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB)here today. According to Official sources here , three units of security personnel, including CRPF jawans at Chintapalli were deployed in the border areas of Odisha two days ago and were returning from the area via Gillelabanda

when the bees attacked them. The bees attacked a unit of about 25 cops. The cops were chased by the bees for almost 400 meters. Some of them were stung on their faces, hands and neck. This is the fourth incident of bee attacks on combing parties in Visakha Agency area in the past four months. Cops were attacked by honey bees twice in the same place in the past one-and-a- half years.

Those injured were taken to Lotugedda junction where they Annavaram police station cops admitted them to Chintapalli primary health center.Officials Added.UNI BSR VV ADB1202
