2 boys drown in canal

:The Dasara holidays turned tragic for twofamilies in city as two teenage boys met their watery grave when they went for a swim at Varuna Canal in Vajamangala, Mysuru District.

Police said the victims were identified as Naveen (15), and Chandan (15),. Both were standard nine students of JSS School in Siddhartha Layout. It was said that the duo, who were enjoying their Dasara holidays, went for a swim last evening even though they were not trained in swimming.

The tragedy came to light only this morning when the passers-by, who found a body floating in the canal near Vajamangala, informed the Mysuru South Rural Police. On learning about the tragedy, the parents of the boys, who searched for the two in vain last night, rushed to the spot only to find their children drowned. The family members were inconsolable.

The personnel of Fire and Emergency Services, who fished out the body of Naveen this morning and shifted it to MMC andRI mortuary were continuing their search operation to trace the body of Chandan.
