Green building award for 2 Delhi metro stations

Metro stations at Janpath and Mandi House in the national capital have been awarded the highest possible rating (platinum) for adherence to green building norms by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).These stations have become first in the country to receive IGBCs Green Metro Rating, providing major impetus to India to figure among the global leaders in Green Metro Systems.DMRC Managing Director, Mangu Singh was given the IGBC Plaque by Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar yesterday at a function organised by industry chamber CII. ''The Delhi Metro is developing its stations of Phase 3 as green buildings,'' said the DMRC. Five new solar power facilities with power generation capacity of 575 kWp installed by Delhi Metro at different stations, depots and residential enclaves were also formally inaugurated on Friday.The solar power plants which were commissioned are located at Anand Vihar ISBT, Pragati Maidan, Yamuna Bank and Metro Enclave.UNI RN ASH PR 0947
