Parlimentary panel slams govt for non-implementation of OROP in Armed forces

Taking the government to task on the issue of implementation of One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme for the personnel retiring from the Armed forces, a parliamentary panel today asked the Centre to work out an amicable solution "within stringent timeframe at the earliest".

The Standing Committee on Defence, in its report submitted in the both Houses of Parliament, regretted that even after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made a commitment and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had provided Rs 1,000 crore in the General Budget, the OROP has not been implemented.

"It is beyond the understanding of the Committee as to what reasons are preventing the government from making necessary decisions and arriving at a solution," the Committee wondered, adding that it was utmost important that requisite modalities were sorted out and an amicable solution brought with regard to OROP within stringent timeframe at the earliest.

The Committee asked the government to apprise it about the progress made in this regard.

OROP seems to be dangling a carrot before donkey, the washer man will ensure it moves on but never attains the fodder. Armed forces are fully exploited for all emergencies and catastrophes where the civilians sit tight in their office and pass instructions. The recent earthquake at Nepal is another instance.

Armed forces for India are meant as ornamental or for emergencies where civilians cannot cope up like recent Nepal earthquake or earlier catastrophes. For a power hungry politician who is under the bureaucratic vicious brief or misguidance-they cannot see behind the lop side file notes. Pen is mightier than sword is a well cherished and sustained by our babudom.. sankru38@hotmail.com

Sir, as WAR and OPERATION WIDOWS and WOUNDED are most sufferers as well as some crying at death bed suffering for want of money. It is in their interest that the GOI must pay OROP immediately. I believe it is the DEAD SOUL putting the GOI in LOSS. Many times the money is being paid in one way or the other.Every one is seeing Defence Functioning but not realising the injustice done to the suffering to the DEAD and wounded defence personnel families.

How much money is involved in their pension payment? How much is being spent in NATURALLY CAUSED PAYMENTS and operational expenditures? IT is MAYA. NATURE KEEPS ITS BALANCE BALANCED.

OROP implementation is getting delayed day by day as per Govt, and RM commitments to ESM. Request to declare as soon as possible which is pending for long. Hope for a positive turnout as early as possible.

The Government is always insensitive to the needs of its soldiers, one can say that Governments are always without any souls, only parties change not the system, babus are biggest scoundrels, most are corrupt and they control the levers of power and prevail upon the political class.

It is a mistake to serve in the Armed forces and die for this thankless system, they only know how to pay lip service, use the soldiers in every national calamity and then forget them. Appalling state of affairs, to say the least.

Let us not forget that Supreme Court has passed an order to the current govt. to implement OROP within 3 months or face contempt of court. But it appears that the govt. is not much worried about Veterans and is not ready to adhere to the Supreme Courts order w.r.t OROP. SHAME ON BJP GOVT.
