Rahatkar gets place in BJP new team as Mahila Morcha president

Former Aurangabad mayor and Bharartiya Janata Party state committee member Vijaya Rahatkar has been newly elected to the BJP's new team today, party national president Amit Shah announced.

Rahatkar was appointed as Presindet of the Mahila Morcha in BJP's new team. Earlier in 2010 she was appointed as national general secretary in the mahila wing. She was mayor in the past Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for about two and half years.

Talking to UNI, a jubilant Rahatkar expressed her thanks to the party (BJP) who have entrusted her with the post of president Of Mahila Morcha.

'I will fulfill the all responsibilities towards considering women's needs and welfare for women. We will work for the women to make them economically strong and self sufficient,' she said.

Commenting on the growing atrocities on women she said, 'we will take care of everything and make full efforts to curb such acts.'

As mayor she had organized various national and international events in Aurangabad that included the National IT leadership summit and Mayors national summits. Rahatkar had also served as the state vice president of BJP's youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). She was two times corporator in the Jyoti Nagar ward in Aurangabad.

Others from Maharashtra who have found a place in Shah's team are Vinay Sahasrbuddhe appointed as Vice-president, late senior leader Pramod Mahajan's daughter and MP From Mumbai Poonam Mahajan-Rao and Shyam Jaju appointed as secretary. UNI VKB JF SM1549 NNNN
