A 35-year-old artist from Thane, Manisha Ogale, has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records by creating the world's largest hand-painted bag.

The bag, measuring a colossal 21x27 feet, was created in a record time of 9 hours and 2 minutes here in April 2013.

Her effort has been recognized by both the Guinness committee and the Limca Book of Records.

Addressing a news conference while displaying the certificate, the award-winning artist said, 'I am extremely delighted to receive the Guinness and Limca awards. I sincerely thank the organisers for giving me a chance to fulfil my dream.'

'We are proud of Ms Ogale's achievement We were very excited to support this cause as it was in sync with our ideology to create awareness on preserving environment,' said the organiser Deva Jyotula, general manager, Korum Mall.

Ms Ogale practices various styles of paintings, of which fabric painting is her favourite. Her designs on sarees, kurtas, and dupattas in Madhubani and Warli styles are very popular among her clientele.
