Mysterious fire at dargah during 'Kandoori festival' at Nagore

Tension prevailed for almost whole day today at the famous Dargah at Nagore near here, after a mystery fire accident which partially burnt the Sandanakoodu (holy car decorated with sandal paste).

According to official sources the Sandanakoodu made out of bamboo sticks with sandal paste on it and is taken out in a procession is as part of the 14-day annual Kandoori festival, incidentally which is under way currently.

The Dargah of Saint Hazrath Syed Shahul Hameed Quadir Wali at Nagore is more than 500 years old. It has a golden dome, flanked by five minarets. Saint Hazrath Syed Shahul Hameed is known to be the 23rd descendant of Prophet Muhammad (Sal).

The death anniversary of this Saint is celebrated as 'Kandoori Festival' every year for 14 days. The 457th annual festival commenced with hoisting of the holy flag on Tuesday last. MORE UNI RV NAU 2320 NNNN
