The Union Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, in a programme held at Berhampore Court station today inaugurated and dedicated twelve railway projects and services.
He has laid foundation stone for doubling of Manigram-Nimtita Railway line and Road Overbridge at Shamshi, introduced additional AC coaches with Hazarduari Express, stoppage of 13187/13188 Sealdah - Rampurhat Express and 12373/12374 Sealdah - Rampurhat Intercity Express at Prantik, stoppage of 15661/15662 Ranchi-Kamakhya Express, 12345/12346 Howrah - Guwahati Saraighat Express and 15619/15620 Gaya - Kamakhya Express at New Farakka, stoppage of 13011/13012 Howrah - Malda Town Intercity Express at Tildanga and stoppage of 13023/13024 Howrah - Gaya Express (via Sahibganj) at Tinpahar.
He has introduced 18637/18638 Hatia-Yesvantapur Express, dedicated Shantipur-Phulia doubling project and Santragachhi-Tikiapara 4th line in Howrah - Kharaghpur section, Inaugurated PRS Centre at Bhagaiya (in Godda district) and Re-opened Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) which was devastated during an earthquake a few years ago.
Eastern Railway General Manager, Radhey Shyam, thanked Mr Chowdhury for his prompt initiative for the development of train services in Indian Railways in general and Eastern India in particular. He pointed out that introduction of additional chair car coach in Kolkata-Lalgola Hazarduari Express, a highly popular train, will immensely help the passengers to get confirmed reservation.
Earlier in the morning, Mr Chowdhury inaugurated a Computerised Passenger Reservation Centre at Nabagram. Mr Chowdhury also inaugurated another Computerised Passenger Reservation Centre at Burdwan.
It may be noted that with these, total number of computerised passenger reservation centres in West Bengal now stands at 283. These are intended to reach out to more and more passengers with the facility of computerised reservation service. UNI BM 2122 NNNN
