The Janjagran Samiti of Maharashtra today warned the Congress and NCP-led state government that if the demands of the minority community are not met before the upcoming general elections, they will decide to exercise negative vote or use veto against the candidates of both parties.

Addressing a news conference here, Mohsin Ahmed, president of the Samiti, said even after the independence, the members of minority community living in the Marathwada region are deprived of proper education, jobs in government services and they continue to remain economically weak.

Mr Ahmed made it clear that the minority community will not vote for the Congress or NCP candidates unless their demands are fulfilled.

He said their demands are appointment of two members of the minority community on corporations, to give reservation to both the Maratha and minority communities simultaneously, give permission for construction of the branch of Aligarh Muslim University in Aurangbad district, clear sites for proposed Vandematram and Haj House, declare Urdu language as official second language in the state, vacate the government offices situated on Wakf Board land and give scholarship to minority students on lines of SC and STs, grant permission to open educational schools and colleges in Muslim-dominated areas and enhance funds towards Maulana Azad Board and Wakf Board Urdu Acadamy.
