Korea keen to set up a semiconductor city in Gujarat

South Korea has expressed keen interest in setting up a Semiconductor City Gujarat.

South Korean Ambassador to India Lee Joongyu, who met Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi here yesterday, explored the areas of mutual co-operation and discussed possibility of developing economic, industrial, educational and cultural fields between Korea and Gujarat, like Samsung setting up a Semiconductor City here.

During the meeting, Mr Modi recalled his memories of the last visit to Korea and looked forward to developing Gujarat as a maritime state on the lines of Korea. He said Korea could also extend assistance in the fields of maritime university, maritime human resource development, and shipbuilding and Kalpsar project in Gujarat. Korea has built a dyke, known as Saemangeum Seawall Project.

Mr Modi invited Korean Government to participate in the forthcoming National Urban Development Summit to be held in Gujarat later this month. On his part, Mr Lee invited Mr Modi to visit Korea. UNI HT AKV VD NP1235 NNNN
