3 cops given capital punishment in 1982 Gonda fake encounter case

A special CBI court here today awarded capital punishment to three policemen and life imprisonment to remaining five policemen in Uttar Pradesh in connection with a 1982 police encounter in Madhopur area in Gonda district in which 13 people, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K P Singh, was killed.

Special CBI judge Rajendra Singh announced the punishment after convicting all the eight policemen accused in the case on March 29.

All the eight convicts are presently in jail after they were proued guilty.

The special judge handed capital punishment to the then SHO of Madhopur police station R B Saroj, Head Constable Ram Naik and constable Ram Karan.

The five policemen who were given life imprisonment are Sub-Inspectors Naseem Ahmed, Mangal Singh, Parvej Hussain, Rajendra Prasad Singh and Head Constable Prem Narain Pandey. MORE UNI MB AE AS1509 NNNN
