Film tourism to be encouraged Bahuguna says at Australian Film Fest

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna today said film tourism would be encouraged in the State and efforts would be made to establish a Film City here. Mr Bahuguna, while speaking at Australian Film Festival organised at Silver City, said Uttarakhand was well ahead of many countries in the world in natural beauty and had lot of prospect for film shooting.

He said the State Government would draw attention of more film producers to Uttarakhand which would also help publicize the tourist spots and promote tourism industry. Mr Bahuguna said efforts would be made to establish a film City in Dehradun as it was near to national capital Delhi, had better connectivity, good facilities and outstanding locales. He said the State Government was putting its best efforts to develop infrastructure and 22 Helodromes had been approved, while, Nainisen and Pantnagar Airfields were being extended.

He also hailed the efforts of the organisers for holding the second Australian Film Festival of India and said it had given an opportunity to the people of the state to have a closer look at the Australian Cinema. The week-long film festival which started on December 3, included a retrospective of Baz Luhrman Films. A high point of the festival was screening of documentary 'Yes, Madam, Sir' on first Indian woman police officer Kiran Bedi, in her presence, after which she also inter-acted with the audience, according to Suyash Aggarwal of Silver City multiplex, the venue of the film-fest.
