Noted satirical writer Achyutananda Kar passed away

Noted writer, journalist and founder editor of famous satirical magazine ' Durmukha' Achyudananda Kar passed away here today following protracted illness. He was 79 As a renowned satirical writer Mr Kar had penned several stories relating the politics and social life during the last four decades in the Magazine which had had become very popular and a household name in the state. People from various walks of life today visited his Rajabagicha residence here to pay their last tribute to the departed soul. He was later cremated at Khannagar crematorium in presence of large number of his well whishes and followers. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Information and Public Relation Minister Arun Kumar Sahu expressed their profound grief at the demise of the veteran satirical writer. Mr Patnaik said Mr Kar through his powerful satirical writings wanted to bring changes in the society. Mr Kar, the chief minister said, had created history in the satirical journalism and literature and will remain as role model for the younger generation of the satirical writers of the state. Mr Kar is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. UNI DP AK RD2039 NNNN
