Odisha initiate steps for intra and inter state aviation facilities

The Odisha government has initiated actions for setting road map and strategies for boosting up intra-state and inter-state civil aviation facilities.
Official sources said the IPICOl in association with Civil Aviation Department had initiated Road Map frame work for facilitating investment in aviation related activities to boost intra and inter-state trade and tourism.
The Road Map had been prepared for a period of ten years from 2012-13- to 2022-23 which included creation of Night Parking Facility and Hinterland connectivity to establishment of Aero city, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul(MRO) and Refueling Hub. It also included the Domestic Terminal & Connectivity, setting up of Aviation Training Institutes, operationalisation of International Flight, development of Cargo Hub and Air line base. Odisha has 17 airstrips and 16 helipads.The state government had identified nine locations in the state to be connected through civil aviation.
It had been proposed to develop Greenfield Airports in five location such as Rayagada, Paradeep, Dhamara, Angul and Kalinganagar. Up-gradation of four existing airfields namely Gopalpur, Jharsuguda, Barbil and Rourkela had also been proposed. As of now Odisha had been connected with other parts of the country through domestic flights of Indian Airlines, Indigo and Jet Airways.
Decisions had been taken to provide incentives to the airline operators to establish connectivity to other cities like Raipur, Patna, Bhopal and Ranchi. MORE UNI DP SJC RD1835 NNNN
