Police seizes unaccounted money over Rs 26 lakh

Uttar Pradesh police today seized unaccounted money worth over Rs 26 lakhs along with 2 kilograms of brown sugar, 75 kgs of ganja. Police has so far lodged 183 FIRs of violation of election model code of conduct besides today removed 27,543 wall writings, posters and banners in the state. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Umesh Sinha said while in Lucknow police seized Rs 18 lakhs cash and 2 kilograms of brown sugar, in Sonebhadra district 75 kgs of ganja and Rs 4.85 lakh cash was recovered. In Shravasti district, police has seized Rs 3.22 lakhs while 11 people have been booked under Excise Act in the state. UP police has recovered more than Rs 7.43 crores during special vehicle checking drive after the announcement of the assembly polls in the state. The seven phase assembly polls in UP will be held next month. UNI MB RKM 2110
