SVP confers five eminents for their important contributions New Delhi | Friday, Jan 1 2010 IST
Commemorating the deeds and sayings of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel--the first Home Minister of the nation, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel foundation (SVP) felicitated five eminent personalities from all walks of life, for their role in empowering the world society here today. Radhakrishnan Pillai, resident of Mumbai and a scholar of Sanskrit language as well as Industrial Management, a well known litterateur of the ancient Chanakya literature was conferred the honour which carried a shawl and memento. The honour was presented at the hands of Delhi ex chief minister Madan Lal Khurana. Oil canvas painter from Gujarat, Ashok B Khant was awarded for his extensive works depicting rural life and also for some renowned portraits of Sardar Patel. Dr Surendra S Parmar (NRI), a renowned neuroscientist, residing in the US was felicitated for his contribution in medical and health sector. In socio-economic sector Shashichandra Desai, was recognised for his work in Mauritius. For social developments in the Surat region of Gujarat, Mr Govindbhai L. Dholakia was awarded.
