Rev Neiliezhu passes away

Well-known Church leader Rev Neiliezhu Usou died at his Minister Hill Baptist Church (MHBC) residence yesterday after prolonged illness. He was 78.

Mr Usou is survived by his wife, three sons and four daughters.

Hailing from Nerhema village under Kohima district, Rev Neiliezhu headed various church associations. He was the chairman of the Kohima Town Baptist Pastors Fellowship. He was officiating Chaplain of the Royal British Legion Memorial Service, held once in every three years at the Kohima War Cemetry, and the Senior Pastor of MHBC till his death.

Rev Neiliezhu did a research on Naga indigenous music from 1981 to 1984 and got published a book on the subject. He also brought out an audio cassette in 1985 with a view to bringing the Naga tribes closer through spiritual unity. He also authored the book titled 'Elementary Music', which was approved by the Nagaland Board of Secondary Education.

His funeral service will be held at MHBC here tomorrow.
