Congs Ramakant Goswami wins Rajendra Nagar assy seat

Congress nominee Ramakant Goswami today wrested the Rajendra Nagar Assembly seat from the BJP by defeating opponent Asha Yogi by 5000 votes. Mr Goswami secured 29394 votes from the assembly seat, polling for which was held on December 13 while Ms Yogi secured 23988 votes. BSP candidate Trilok Chand got 15871 votes.
With this win, the Congress now has 43 seats in the 70-member State assembly.
Since the start of counting of votes this morning, Mr Goswami had been maintaining a constant lead over his rival. A total of 12 rounds of counting was held. Polling for the assembly seat , where election could not be held on November 29, following the death of BJP candidate and sitting MLA Puran Chand Yogi, was held on December 13.
A two-time Congress MLA from Patel nagar, Ramakant Goswami was this time fielded by the party from Rajendra Nagar.
