Security forces gunned down two top guerrillas of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit in south Kashmir's Yamrach village, 80 km from here in Kulgam district Tuesday.

Police had received information regarding presence of militants in the village, said S.P. Pani, district police chief, adding an operation was launched by the troops of 62 Rashtriya Rifles and special operations group (SOG) of police.

"As the security forces zeroed in on the hideout, holed up militants opened indiscriminate fire which was returned.

"In the sustained gunfight two LeT militants were killed," Pani said.

Arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. (IANS)
