The High Court today took a stern view of the manner in which the bodies found in Kedarnath area were disposed of and sought response within a week from the state government in this respect.
The directive to the state government was given by the bench of acting Chief Justice B K Bisht and Justice Alok Singh today while hearing of a PIL by Delhi-resident Ajay Gautam.
The petitioner had submitted the photos as proof to support his plea that the state government was not cremating the bodies of victims of the mid-June disaster last year in Kedarnath area.
The petitioner had submitted that if the government was not able to cremate the victims, most of them pilgrims, with proper Hindu rites then the Hindu Mahasabha was ready to cremate the bodies in proper religious manner.
The High Court has sought a response in week from the state government in this regard. UNI JN NAU0040
