Gujarat sees 490 new Covid cases, two deaths

Gujarat on Wednesday saw 490 new coronavirus cases, taking its tally to 2,57,342, while the death toll climbed to 4,371, with two more succumbing.

In January so far, the state has added 12,304 cases at an average of 615 cases daily.

A total of 707 patients were discharged, taking the total to 2,47,223, while there are 5,748 active cases.

Ahmedabad, which reported both the new fatalities, saw 105 new cases, Surat 98, Vadodara 94, Rajkot 65 and Gandhinagar and Kutch 19 each.

Bhavnagar had 12 cases, Junagadh 11, Mehsana 10, Jamnagar eight, Dahod and Gir-Somnath seven each, Sabarkantha six, Bharuch and Kheda five each, Anand four, Panchmahals, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Patan, and Morbi three each, Amreli, Banaskantha, Mahisagar, and Narmada two each and Aravalli, Botad, Surendranagar, Navsari, and Valsad one each.

The state has 4,69,999 people under quarantine.
